Shakespeare: Then and Now

2nd DEH Inter-University Students’ Conference

 The Department of English and Humanities at ULAB will hold its 2nd one-day inter-university students’ conference on Thursday, April 21, 2016.

To mark Shakespeare’s 400th death anniversary, the theme for the conference this year is Shakespeare: Then and Now.

Student papers are invited in, but not limited to, the following areas:

  • Shakespeare and death
  • Shakespeare and religion
  • Shakespeare and memory
  • Shakespeare and time
  • Performing Shakespeare: now and then
  • Transcultural Shakespeare
  • Critical and theoretical conceptions of/engagements through Shakespeare
  • Rethinking Shakespeare
  • Shakespeare in the classroom
  • E-Shakespeare
  • The after-life of Shakespeare

Papers will be judged by an independent panel of judges, and the best two papers will receive a monetary prize and a special certificate. All presenters will receive certificates of participation.

Full papers, with abstracts, should be submitted by March 15, 2016 to Ms. Arifa Ghani Rahman at [email protected].

Abstracts: 200-250 words
Full papers: 2000-2500 words
Presentation time: 10 mins + 5 mins for Q/A

We request departmental heads to select a maximum of two students to represent their institutions.

N.B. All papers will be checked for plagiarism.
